Matchworn Niclas Alexandersson 06.09.1997 AUT 🇦🇹 : SWE 🇸🇪 1-0
Manufacturer: Adidas
Source: Austrian player
As a teenager I was a big fan of Swedish death metal. No wonder Sweden quickly became my favorite team at major tournaments and the country's jerseys were among the first in my collection.
As a largely regular participant in World Cups, the country usually managed to make it past the group stages. In 1958 they were defeated only in the final by Brazil, while in 1950 and finally in 1994 they managed to reach the semifinals, after which they would successfully claim the third place.
Not long after Sweden's last successful World Cup, the team wore this iconic Adidas design, with the shiny fabric and sewn-in association crests.
My jersey comes from the collection of former Austrian midfielder Gilbert Prilasnig, who swapped the shirt with his opponent Niclas Alexandersson after a World Cup qualifier against Sweden in 1997, that the Austrians won 1-0.
