THE TEAM
The third smallest country in the Asian Football Confederation founded its own football federation in 1892 under the name “Singapore Amateur Football Association”.
However, no great footballing successes were achieved during this long period.
1984 was the only time they qualified for the Asia Cup, but the “Lions” did not make it past the group stage.
However, the Singaporeans were most successful in the ASEAN Championship, where only the Southeast Asian countries compete. Here they have lifted the trophy four times – the last time in 2012.
THE SHIRT
This customized design from Nike is the first jersey since the 90s that the Singaporean national team has worn with the national emblem on the chest instead of the national flag. This badge is a thin fabric sticker that is stuck onto the fabric with the country's typical pattern. It was worn by young defender Ryhan Stewart, although the exact game cannot be determined.
