Matchworn Félix Torres 25.03.2022 PAR 🇵🇾 : ECU 🇪🇨 3-1
Manufacturer: Marathon

THE TEAM
Despite being a relatively regular participant in the FIFA World Cup in recent years, Ecuador, alongside Venezuela, is the only South American team never to have won the Copa América.
The team, which never yielded any particularly big players in their footballing history even advanced to a spectacular 10th place in the FIFA world rankings in 2013. Currently ranked 44th, Ecuador is ready to again compete tine World Cup this winter.
THE SHIRT
With the popularity of football shirts and particularly matchworn shirts rising in recent years, and therefore prices going up, an increasing number of shops and companies have emerged wanting to claim a piece of the cake. One of the more known ones is “Matchwornshirt”, a company that directly works together with certain (national) teams in order to auction off a whole set of matchworn and match-issued kits from a particular match – complete with a certificate of authenticity and (oftentimes) a signature. While I have never been willing to pay the premium prices those auctions fetch, I was happy to find this nice Ecuador shirt stemming from “Matchwornshirts” on eBay for a great price.
Worn by defender Félix Torres when Ecuador faced Paraguay in March 2022, the shirt comes in a nice box including a COA (certificate of authenticity) and is also signed on the back.
Although, the shirt certainly lags behind more spectacular designs by local manufacturer “Marathon”, the player version comes with a heat-pressed badge and a structured fabric, with the numbers containing a nice golden outline.
