Matchworn/Matchprepared Juan Cuadrado 13.11.2020 URU 🇺🇾 : COL 🇨🇴 3-0
Manufacturer: Adidas
Source: Collector
Only once were the Colombians able to win the Copa América once – in 2001 on home soil.
Even with their “Second Golden Generation” around James Rodríguez, Radamel Falcao and Juan Cuadrado, who sensationally made it to the quarter-finals of the World Cup in 2014, “Los Cafeteros” – the coffee growers (don't they famously grow anything else in Colombia?) – were unable to win the trophy a second time.
This Juan Cuadrado, who was one of the stars of the Colombian team for a long time and played more than 200 games for Juventus Turin, is the man behind the latest jersey in my collection.
In contrast to the Adidas fan jerseys, the player jersey has nipple-friendly plastic emblems and applications. The fabric is also more breathable and has fewer sharp seams that could cut sensitive players. A “6” is emblazoned on the back of the neck instead of an “M” to provide a more accurate size indication, as there were intermediate sizes for the players' jerseys in order to offer every player the optimum fit.
Even though the jersey has a few small signs of wear and definitely gives off a slight smell of sweat, I can't say for sure whether it was actually used during Colombia's 3-0 defeat against Uruguay.
Nevertheless, player shirts of great players are always a special addition to my collection!
